(CINCINNATI, OH, 2/9/18) – The Cincinnati chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Cincinnati) today joined the FBI in offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who vandalized a vehicle owned by an individual of Middle Eastern descent with anti-Muslim and pro-Trump hate graffiti.
CAIR-Cincinnati is offering $1,000 for information about the May 4, 2017, vandalism that included broken windows and slashed tires, along with spray-painted Nazi swastikas and "Go Home," "Musslim [sic] Terrorist" and "Trump America." The FBI announced today that it is offering a $3,000 reward in the case.
“We urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator to immediately contact law enforcement authorities,” said CAIR-Cincinnati Executive Director Karen Dabdoub. “We thank the FBI for its action in this case and hope it sends a strong message that acts of anti-Muslim bigotry will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
CAIR said it has witnessed an unprecedented spike in hate incidents targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president.
The Washington-based civil rights organization has also challenged a number of the Trump administration’s Islamophobic, discriminatory and anti-immigrant policies.
Community members are being urged to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR's Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at: http://www.cair.com/report
CAIR launched an app to share critical “know your rights” information and to simplify the process to report hate crimes and bias incidents. CAIR is urging American Muslims and members of other minority groups to download the app and utilize this resource to stay informed and empowered.
