Action Alert: Ask school to rescind approval of anti-Islam event due to safety concerns
(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 6/23/14) -- The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) today called on the Bagley Independent School District #162 to rescind approval of tonight's speech by Islamophobe Usama Dakdok following harassment of a Muslim woman by a "mob" at his earlier speaking event at the same school on Sunday.
Take action tonight, May 29, stand with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in urging your elected representative to support the Quad Caucus' amendment to prevent discriminatory profiling added to H.R. 4660, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2015.
The Quad Caucus amendment is expected to be offered early this evening by Congressman Keith Ellison and "uses existing law to prevent the Department of Justice, FBI, and local law enforcement that receive federal funding from engaging in profiling based on race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, and sexual orientation."
With little time to spare, this amendment is set to be voted on the House floor late tonight.
Not only is profiling morally wrong, it is an unconstitutional violation of the First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendments. Profiling hinders counterterrorism efforts and diverts precious law enforcement resources away from investigations of individuals who have been linked to terrorist activity by specific and credible evidence.
Again, please take action now and support the Quad Caucus' amendment to prevent discriminatory profiling added to H.R. 4660.
CAIR, in partnership with the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, Amnesty International, Witness Against Torture, and ten other religious, human, and civil rights organizations, invites you to join communities across the U.S. and the world to urge President Obama and Congress to end indefinite detention and close the detention facility at Guantanamo.
